Celtic set to miss out on one of their previous managerial targets

Kjetil Knutsen after Tottenham loss

Kjetil Knutsen has agreed a new deal with Bodo/Glimt to stay until the end of 2029, ending Celtic’s interest in him.

His previous deal expired last month, and fans held their breath to know if he would be staying.

In recent days, reports linked him with the managerial role at Strasbourg as Liam Rosenior prepares to become the next Chelsea coach.

A move to Strasbourg takes Knutsen to one of the top leagues in the world and closer to becoming a Chelsea manager in the future.

However, he has been at Bodo since 2017 and has made them the best team in Norway during that time.

The club feels like home to him, and seeing him away from the club would have been strange, but as one of Norway’s finest coaches, fans would feel he deserves to move to a bigger league.

He has opted to stay, as revealed by Nettavisen, and he will now look to continue to dominate the Eliteserien and help Bodo qualify for the Champions League consistently in the next few seasons.

Celtic will have to find another manager to replace Wilfried Nancy, who has been sacked, and it is looking increasingly likely that Martin O’Neil will be reinstalled as the new Bhoys head coach.
