Conflicting reports over West Brom’s Torbjørn Heggem Bologna transfer

Torbjørn Heggem

West Bromwich Albion defender Torbjørn Heggem is attracting significant interest from Serie A side Bologna, with the Italian club keen to secure his services during the current transfer window.

The Norwegian centre-back is believed to be open to the move, and talks between the two clubs have taken place. For Heggem, joining a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues would represent a major step forward in his career, and Bologna appears eager to make that happen. However, the path to completing the deal has not been entirely straightforward.

Conflicting Reports Over Progress

While initial negotiations were said to be positive, recent developments have introduced a level of uncertainty surrounding the transfer. According to SportWitness, there are now conflicting accounts regarding the current state of the talks. One report from Italy suggests that negotiations have advanced significantly and that a deal could soon be finalised. This would be encouraging news for all parties, particularly the player, who is reportedly excited by the prospect of playing in Serie A.

On the other hand, a separate source referenced in the same Sports Witness report paints a different picture. It claims that West Brom have placed a valuation of ten million euros on the defender, a figure Bologna considers excessive. The Italian club reportedly values Heggem at a lower fee and is unwilling to meet the asking price.

Bologna Considering Alternative Options

Due to the disagreement in valuation, there is a growing risk that the deal could collapse. Bologna are now said to be evaluating other defensive targets, with club officials increasingly reluctant to continue pursuing a move that does not align with their financial expectations.

For West Brom, holding firm on their valuation may result in retaining the player, but it could also mean missing out on a potentially profitable transfer. With the window still open, there remains time for a resolution, though both clubs will need to make concessions if the move is to go ahead. For now, the situation remains uncertain, and Heggem’s future hangs in the balance.

  1. He’s already a better player than oshea who has move twice for 15million, more comfortable with the ball at his fit and can get forward well so if it’s not 10 million we will get it in January after he’s excelled again after only half a season until now, or if we got promoted he’ll be 20million plus with Premier league experience of which I have no doubt he will make the step up to

  2. Why would any team big talking about Challenging for promotion even be considering
selling any good or promising player,
It all sounds like bulls**t to me
