Fagermo admits Marko Farji could be sold for the right price

Marko Farji

This season has been far from ideal for Strømsgodset, and their struggles could soon be compounded by the departure of one of their key players. The Drammen-based club is currently second from bottom in the league standings and has found it difficult to build any momentum in recent months. With relegation looming, there is growing concern among supporters and management that further losses to the squad could severely impact their survival chances.

Manager Dag-Eilev Fagermo has not managed to produce consistent results, and the team is in desperate need of reinforcements during the current transfer window. Rather than strengthening the squad, however, the club now appears likely to lose Marko Farji, one of their most productive players this season.

Farji Closing in on a Move Abroad

Farji has made a notable impact for Strømsgodset in the current campaign, contributing five goals and three assists in league play. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with several clubs outside Norway reportedly monitoring his situation. Among them, Dutch side Heerenveen have emerged as the frontrunners for his signature and is reportedly working to secure a deal as quickly as possible.

The potential transfer could come at a crucial time for Strømsgodset, who can ill afford to lose influential players during such a precarious phase of the season. While the club would benefit from any incoming funds, the loss of Farji would undoubtedly weaken their efforts to avoid relegation. Heerenveen’s longstanding interest appears to have finally materialised into concrete negotiations, and the player could be set for a move in the coming days.

Manager Comments on Source and Sale Possibility

The original rumour surrounding Farji’s potential transfer was reported by Nettavisen, though its reliability was questioned by the club’s manager. Speaking to TV2, Dag-Eilev Fagermo stated, “I don’t think I’ve ever experienced Nettavisen being right about anything, so it’s definitely wrong.” However, he also acknowledged the realities of the transfer market by admitting, “But that’s how it is in football, if there is enough money and it is right for the club, then it is right to sell.”

As the situation develops, Strømsgodset must weigh its immediate needs against long-term planning. Losing a player of Farji’s calibre at such a critical time would be a significant blow, particularly given the team’s current standing. Nonetheless, financial considerations and player ambition may ultimately determine the outcome.
