According to a report coming out of Italy, Juventus have added Fulham’s Sander Berge to their list of potential midfield reinforcements, as cited by Gazzetta.it.
The Italian side is currently seeking a replacement for the soon-to-depart Douglas Luiz, and Berge is among several options being evaluated. The 27-year-old has performed impressively in a Fulham shirt, attracting the attention of multiple clubs, with Juventus now reportedly one of the interested parties.
Fulham’s Midfield Anchor Drawing Widespread Attention
Berge’s performances last season have been a key factor in Fulham’s stable campaign. Featuring in 36 matches across all competitions, he played a pivotal role in maintaining structure and balance in midfield. His strength, ball control and reading of the game have seen his value rise sharply.
It is fair to say that Berge was significantly underestimated during his time at Sheffield United and Burnley. That perception enabled Fulham to secure his signature for a reported £20 million with an additional £5 million in add-ons. Considering his current form, he is now expected to command a substantially higher fee.
Juventus Among Several Clubs in Pursuit
Although Juventus are monitoring Berge closely, the report made clear that they are also considering a number of other midfielders. It is therefore far from certain that the Norway international will be playing in Serie A next season. However, the likelihood of his departure from Craven Cottage this summer is increasing.
Berge signed a five-year contract just last summer, which places Fulham in a strong negotiating position. The club are expected to demand a premium for a player who has quickly become one of their most reliable assets. If Juventus are serious about securing the services of the former Valerenga man, it will need to act swiftly, as interest from other clubs continues to mount.
