“It’s a step up” Attacker reveals how he is adapting at West Brom

Aune Heggebø

Aune Heggebø has faced a challenging start to life in the English Championship following his summer move from Brann to West Brom. In Norway, he was regarded as one of the finest and most consistent strikers in the country, attracting interest from some of the leading clubs.

The move to West Brom marked a significant step in his career, but adapting to the intensity and quality of the Championship has proven to be a demanding process. Heggebø has been learning to adjust to a new environment, new teammates, and a higher level of competition, all while striving to meet the expectations placed upon him by the club and supporters.

Heggebø’s Adaptation to the Championship

West Brom began the season strongly, but recent matches have highlighted challenges in their attacking output. The Baggies are looking for greater contributions from Heggebø, and he is conscious of his role as a key figure within the squad. While he continues to work diligently to provide value on the pitch, he admits that the transition has been far from straightforward.

Despite the difficulties, Heggebø remains determined to maintain his performance levels. His work ethic and commitment to improvement are evident, and he continues to focus on contributing effectively to the team while adapting to the pace and physicality of English football.

Maintaining Confidence and Focus

Speaking to the BBC, Heggebø reflected on the challenges he has faced, saying, “It’s been a great challenge. Of course, it’s a step up from Norway, but it’s been really nice. I’ve been trying to keep up a good self-confidence and always believing, never letting the negative emotion take over. It’s always about the next day and the next training, and doing the best you can.”

His comments underline the mental and emotional resilience required to succeed in a new league and country. Heggebø’s approach emphasises the importance of focusing on continuous improvement and maintaining self-belief, even when results and performances are inconsistent.

  1. Another uncut diamond – watch us sell him next year for a small profit and for him to go on to be the next Thomas-Asante #itswhatwedo

  2. In all fairness i think if we hadnt been in such financial dire straits and well stocked with wingers at the time then asante may of had a chance to thrive out wide where he played most of his career at salford, and also if he hadnt suffered the same fate as our strikers are npw with very little service he could have done better upfront but when alls said and done i wish him all the best at coventry as he always gave 110% and you could see how grateful he was to be playing at a higher level than non league
