Latest Wolves transfer update creates a state of limbo

Jørgen Strand Larsen

Jorgen Strand Larsen is in danger of missing out on a move to Crystal Palace during the current transfer window after the club appeared to change its stance on signing him. The situation has created uncertainty around the striker’s future as the window progresses and time begins to run short.

It has been a difficult season for Wolves, and Strand Larsen has fallen out of favour at the Premier League club. As a result, Wolves have been open to selling the Norwegian striker, although they have been clear that any departure must take place at the right price. Palace had previously indicated a willingness to meet that valuation, with an agreement in place to pay £50m for his signature.

Deal Stalls After Initial Agreement

Wolves accepted Palace’s proposed terms, and the expectation was that the London club would follow up by submitting a formal offer to complete the transfer. However, that final step has not yet materialised, leaving the move in limbo. Despite the apparent agreement between the two clubs, the deal has stalled at a critical moment.

The lack of progress has raised doubts about whether the transfer will go through at all. Palace were initially viewed as a strong destination for Strand Larsen, particularly given Wolves’ willingness to sell and the player’s reduced role at his current club. Instead, uncertainty has grown as Palace appear to be reassessing their position.

Palace Reconsider Their Interest

According to the BBC, Crystal Palace are now considering walking away from the deal entirely, having indicated that they no longer wish to proceed. The reasons behind the apparent change of heart remain unclear, although the report suggests it could be a negotiating tactic aimed at forcing Wolves to accept a lower fee.

For Strand Larsen, the delay is far from ideal. He is keen to have his future resolved during this transfer window and is looking for a move that will allow him to secure regular playing time. Remaining at Wolves without clarity would do little to help his situation or confidence.

At present, the next move rests with Palace. If they genuinely want to sign the striker, they will need to follow up their previous interest with a concrete bid. Otherwise, Strand Larsen may be forced to look elsewhere, or risk staying put despite his desire for a fresh start.
