Jacob Hanstad joined Fredrikstad from Lyn in January, hoping to take the next step in his development. The move came after Fredrikstad had monitored the young attacker for some time, eventually making an offer he accepted with the ambition of advancing his career.
At 22, Hanstad was eager to establish himself at a higher level and anticipated regular playing time. However, things did not unfold as expected. Since making the move, he has found first-team opportunities limited, managing only two league appearances during his time at the club.
A Frustrating Spell with Limited Opportunities
To maintain match fitness and showcase his ability, Hanstad was sent to Fredrikstad’s B team, where he made an immediate impact by scoring six goals in just four games. Despite this impressive return, it did not result in increased playing time with the senior side.
The lack of opportunities has left the forward frustrated. While he believed he had what it takes to succeed at Fredrikstad, the situation failed to align with his expectations. Rather than wait indefinitely for a potential chance, Hanstad has decided to seek a new opportunity elsewhere, prioritising regular minutes and continued growth.
Sandefjord Move Offers Fresh Start
According to VG, Hanstad is now set to join Sandefjord in search of the playing time he was denied at Fredrikstad. The decision marks a turning point in what had been a difficult spell, and one he hopes will reignite his career.
Speaking on the move, Hanstad commented, “It was just a mismatch. I don’t need to go into it much more, but I hope to be able to turn it around here in Sandefjord.”
The young attacker is keen to make the most of this new chapter and will be looking to prove that he belongs at the top level. Sandefjord, for their part, will hope that the fresh environment provides the platform he needs to realise his potential.
