Mohamed Ofkir set to leave South Korea and return to Vålerenga

Mohamed Ofkir

Mohamed Ofkir is set to return to Norway, as Valerenga is currently in discussions to bring him back from K League 1 club Suwon.

He only left Valerenga to join the South Korean side on loan in January this year and has since featured in several matches for Suwon. However, his time abroad has not unfolded as smoothly as expected, and it appears that he is now eager to come back to Norway.

Difficulties Adapting to Life Abroad

While the initial plan was for him to complete the season in South Korea, reports indicate that the situation has not gone according to plan. His integration into South Korean society has been more challenging than anticipated, and that seems to have played a role in the push for an early return.

According to TV2, the agreement is about to be terminated so that he can return to Norway to continue to play for Valerenga. This development suggests that the loan deal may soon be cut short, enabling the winger to rejoin his parent club.

Strategic Move for Valerenga’s Season

Ofkir has been part of Valerenga since 2023, when he signed from Sandefjord. The 28-year-old is now poised to continue his career in Oslo for the remainder of the season, with the club seemingly eager to reintegrate him into the squad.

“There is a situation that needs to be resolved there with the South Korean club,” says Valerenga sports director Joacim Jonsson, as quoted by the same source. His statement reflects the club’s effort to finalise the necessary arrangements before Ofkir’s return can be completed.

Valerenga is currently placed 12th in the Eliteserien table and will be looking to improve their standing. The return of Ofkir, a familiar and experienced figure, may provide the needed lift to support the team’s ambitions in the second half of the campaign.
