“Now it’s day by day” Wolves star reveals his focus after failed summer move

Strand Larsen v West Ham

Jørgen Strand Larsen has expressed his relief at the close of the transfer window, bringing an end to speculation over his future after a brief but intense saga.

The striker had been the subject of strong interest from Newcastle United, who sought to bring him in during the summer. Their approach captured his attention, and having spoken with the Magpies, he made it clear that he was keen on the move, even going so far as to politely request that Wolves sanction his departure.

Loyalty rewarded with stability

Wolves, however, were firm in their stance, refusing to part ways with a player they consider central to their plans. Rather than agitating for a transfer, Strand Larsen accepted the club’s decision and focused on his responsibilities. His professional conduct and quality on the pitch have since been acknowledged, with Wolves offering him a new deal as a reward for both his loyalty and his contribution.

The club’s decision to retain him reflected their determination to prioritise stability over financial gain. With Wolves struggling for form in the early stages of the season, keeping key players has been seen as crucial to avoiding further difficulties. Strand Larsen, who has already proven his importance to the side, is now set to play a leading role in their campaign.

Strand Larsen’s reflections

Speaking to VG, the striker admitted that the summer had been unsettling: “It has been turbulent this summer, of course. Personally, I think it was great to be done with it.”

He elaborated further: “Of course, you are a little affected, everyone has a dream of taking new steps. At the same time, I feel very safe and good here at Wolves. I got the captain’s armband today, and I feel that I am important to the team. But at the same time, you want to take new steps when you’re doing well. The more years I do well at Wolves, the better my chances are in the future. Now it’s day by day to try to get better with the body, and then we’ll take it from there.”

His comments reflected both ambition and a strong sense of commitment to his current club. While he remains open to future opportunities, he has emphasised his desire to focus on improving and contributing to Wolves in the present.

With the transfer window behind him, Strand Larsen’s attention is now firmly on helping Wolves recover from their difficult start. If he can stay fit and replicate his form from last season, he will be central to their hopes of climbing the table and restoring confidence within the squad.
