Patrick Berg responds to reports linking him to MLS move

Major League Soccer clubs have increasingly turned to the Eliteserien in recent seasons in search of emerging talent, and one of the latest names to be linked with a move to the United States is Bodø/Glimt midfielder Patrick Berg. Reports now suggest that the Chicago Fire are actively pursuing a deal for the Norwegian international.

Berg has been a vital figure for Bodø/Glimt since breaking into the team and continues to develop into one of the standout midfielders in the Norwegian top flight. His consistent performances have not gone unnoticed, particularly after Bodø/Glimt’s impressive run to the semi-finals of the Europa League earlier this year.

Chicago Fire Push for Midfield Reinforcement

Bodø/Glimt’s success in Europe has naturally attracted attention to several of their key players, and the club may face challenges in keeping the core of their squad intact during the current transfer window. Among those generating serious interest is Berg, who appears to be on Chicago Fire’s radar.

The MLS side have reportedly made an initial bid in the region of €10 million for the midfielder, a sign of their intent to secure his services. However, Bodø/Glimt are said to have asked for an additional €1 million before agreeing to the transfer. As it stands, the American club have yet to return with an improved offer.

Despite the ongoing speculation, Berg has remained focused on his current responsibilities and continues to perform at a high level for his team. His professionalism has been praised, and he remains committed to helping Bodø/Glimt maintain their strong domestic form.

Berg Responds to Transfer Speculation

Addressing the rumours surrounding his future, Berg commented on the situation in a measured tone. As cited by TV2, he stated, “I think it’s been a nice process all the way. Good communication from the club and I feel there’s been respect all the way.

“I have taken it all very calmly, but of course there has been a lot of speculation around it. I feel both I and Glimt have taken it all with historic calm.”

As the window progresses, all eyes will be on whether Chicago Fire returns with a revised offer or if Berg remains an integral part of Bodø/Glimt’s ambitions this season.
