With Glesnes now gone, Union are keen to reinforce their defence as quickly as possible. Among the players tracked, Japhet Sery Larsen of SK Brann has emerged as the leading candidate. Larsen has enjoyed two separate spells at Brann and previously spent part of his career at Brentford, but it is in Norway where he has truly established his reputation.
Over recent seasons, Larsen has become recognised as one of the most reliable defenders in the country. His consistency and composure have made him a key figure for Brann, and his performances have attracted interest from clubs outside Norway. A move abroad would represent the next challenge in his career, offering him the chance to test himself in a different footballing environment.
Bid Submitted Amid European Commitments
According to VG, Philadelphia Union have already submitted a bid for Larsen, which is currently under consideration by Brann. The report suggests that Union are serious about completing the deal, viewing him as a direct replacement for Glesnes and a player capable of making an immediate impact in MLS.
However, the timing of the potential transfer complicates matters. Larsen remains an important part of the Brann squad, and the club are still competing in the Europa League. Allowing a key defender to leave at this stage of the season would be a difficult decision, particularly given their ongoing European commitments.
