Stoke City is interested in signing 23-year-old striker

Daniel Karlsbakk

Stoke City has emerged as one of the clubs interested in a move for Daniel Karlsbakk as he continues to impress on the books of Sarpsborg 08. The striker has developed into one of the standout performers in the Eliteserien since joining the club last year and has attracted growing interest from teams across Europe.

Stoke are looking to strengthen their attacking options and believe Karlsbakk is the right player to improve their forward line. The club is eager to build a squad capable of competing at a higher level and sees the Norwegian as someone who could make a significant contribution.

The Potters are among the teams determined to secure promotion next season and recognise the importance of adding quality players to achieve that objective. Karlsbakk’s performances have placed him firmly on their shortlist as they continue to assess potential additions.

The striker struggled during his spell at SC Heerenveen between 2023 and 2025, but he has rediscovered his best form since returning to Norway with Sarpsborg 08. His displays have established him as one of the top players in the Norwegian top flight and have renewed interest in his services.

Sarpsborg regard Karlsbakk as an important member of their squad and would prefer not to sell him. Nevertheless, there is increasing speculation surrounding his future as interest from abroad continues to grow.

Strong interest from Stoke City

According to The72, Karlsbakk could be sold, with Stoke showing the strongest interest in securing his signature. The report suggests the Championship club is leading the race as it looks to strengthen its squad before the new campaign.

Karlsbakk has scored 21 goals in 38 league games since last year, a record that has reinforced Stoke’s belief that he can become an important player for the club. His consistent performances have highlighted his ability to lead the line and make an impact in front of goal.

As Stoke continue planning for next season, Karlsbakk remains one of their leading attacking targets, with his form making him an increasingly attractive option in the transfer market.

  1. Has he got pace and can he cope with the rigours of the championship ? A championship season is 48 games long and with the physical nature of it he needs as a sole striker against 2 big centre halves
