Wolves agree deal to sign Norwegian international defender

David Møller Wolfe

According to Fabrizio Romano, Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement to sign David Møller Wolfe from AZ Alkmaar. The Norwegian defender is set to make the switch to Molineux as the club looks to reinforce its back line ahead of the new season.

Wolfe, 23, is a dynamic and versatile left-back who rose to prominence during his time in the Dutch Eredivisie. Throughout the 2024/25 campaign, he made 47 appearances across all competitions for AZ, contributing eight assists and two goals. His consistent displays, especially in European fixtures such as the Europa League clashes with Tottenham Hotspur, earned widespread acclaim. He has been lauded for his ability to contribute in attack while remaining defensively reliable.

Wolfe Set to Strengthen Wolves’ Left Flank

With the departure of Rayan Aït-Nouri, Wolves have moved swiftly to secure a replacement, and Wolfe appears to be the ideal fit. His attacking instincts, combined with solid defensive awareness and positional intelligence, make him a strong candidate to fill the void on the left side of defence.

Wolfe’s adaptability and work rate will be valuable assets for Wolves, especially in a Premier League campaign where squad depth and tactical flexibility are essential. The club will be hoping he can replicate the form that saw him emerge as one of AZ’s key players over the past season.

International Recognition Adds to Wolfe’s Rising Profile

The Norwegian made his senior international debut in November 2023 and quickly established himself as a regular in the national setup. In March 2025, he scored his first goal for Norway during a 4–2 World Cup qualifier win against Israel. By July 2025, he had earned 10 senior caps and built a reputation for his aerial strength, composure on the ball and dependable performances at both club and international level.

As Wolves look to improve upon last season’s campaign, the arrival of Wolfe represents a promising addition to their squad. His blend of experience, youth and technical ability suggests he could become an important figure in the team’s progression under their current management.
