Bodø/Glimt has firmly established itself as one of Norway’s top clubs in recent seasons and, only a few weeks ago, became the most successful Norwegian team in European football. Their continental exploits have earned them recognition and admiration, but their domestic form in the current 2025 league season has taken a worrying dip.
A Troubling Domestic Run
The latest setback was a surprising 4-2 home loss to Viking, a result that stunned many and underlined the club’s current difficulties. This defeat marked yet another blow in what has now become their second-worst start to a league campaign in the last seven years. For a club that has prided itself on consistency and high performance, the current slump is concerning.
Fans have grown accustomed to seeing Bodø/Glimt dominate on the pitch, but recent displays have fallen short of expectations. The supporters are eager for a turnaround, as the team’s performances have failed to reflect the standards set in previous seasons. If results do not improve soon, questions will continue to be asked about what has gone wrong at the Aspmyra Stadion.
A Lack of Goal Responsibility
Former footballer and pundit Yaw Amankwah has offered his perspective on the situation. Speaking to VG, he pointed to a lack of attacking contributions from across the team as a key issue. He stated:
“There are too few players in Glimt who take responsibility for scoring, compared to previous versions. Kasper Høgh has delivered the goods, Ulrik Saltnes the same, but previously the wingers and inside runners in Bodø/Glimt have delivered insanely with goal points.”
His comments highlight a fundamental problem for the team. While a few individuals continue to perform, the collective attacking effort appears to have declined. This imbalance has made it easier for opponents to contain the team’s threat and exposes a pressing need for a broader contribution across the pitch.
Despite the recent setbacks, Bodø/Glimt boasts a talented squad capable of reversing their fortunes. With the right adjustments and renewed determination, there is still time for them to reclaim their form and reassert their dominance in the league.
